Passed away Saturday afternoon, May 13, 2017, at his home. Ken was born December 22, 1927, in Gobles, MI the son of Dennis and Winona (Gardner) Underwood. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years with the City of Kalamazoo as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Cherokee Indian Tribe and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife Gertrude. Ken also enjoyed joking around with people and watching westerns on television. On September 16, 1955, he was united in marriage to his loving wife Gertrude “Elaine” who preceded him in death on April 10, 2017.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Faye Underwood; son, Kelly Robert Underwood Sr; siblings, McKinley Underwood, twins, Robert and Roberta Underwood, Dennis “Jake” Underwood; and half-brother, Bill Underwood.
He is survived by his children, Brenda Ayers, Peggy Dunnigan, Kenneth “Pahoo” Underwood, Scott (Mindy) Underwood, Stella Underwood; step-daughter, Nancy Williams; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Nola Williams, Stella Trice, Gloria Herbert, Henrietta Letts, Jim Molitor; and many nieces and nephews.
