KENNETH RAYMOND “RAY” BORCHERS, after a brief illness, passed on to eternal rest to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the age of 88.
A native of New Orleans, LA, Ray learned the skilled trade of sheet metal and roofing while working for his father (Borchers Sheet Metal and Roofing) on commercial and industrial construction projects. Then came World War II. In 1944, he quit school to serve his country enlisting in the United States Navy, earning the rank of Seaman First Class. In 1946, he returned home to marry the love of his life, Rosie, and raise three children whom they dearly loved. After working on many large commercial construction projects, he joined the City of New Orleans as a public servant, eventually becoming Superintendent of Public Buildings for the Department of Property Management.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Edmee Guchereau and Charles W. Borchers, as well as his deceased siblings, Audrey Borchers LeBouef, Frederik Borchers, John H. Borchers, Charles W. Borchers, Jr. and Hazel Borchers. He is survived by a brother, Richard Borchers.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Rosaria Cynthia Terranova. He is survived by his three children, Rosaria Cynthia “Cindy” Martinez (Reginald), Kenneth Raymond Borchers, Jr. (Carole, deceased) and Michael Borchers. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Gina Brocato, Salvador M. Brocato, III (Lisa), Reginald V. Martinez IV, Meghan Martinez, Colleen Borchers Lombard (Troy), Christopher Borchers, and Kyle Borchers; his great grandchildren, Anthony Pennington, Dominic Brocato and Martha Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
