Kenneth Pence Bradshaw passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Bennett Hills Care Center in Gooding, Idaho.
Ken was born September 5, 1911 in Notus, Idaho; the son of R.D. and Grace Bradshaw. He was raised in Payette and Wendell Idaho. He graduated from Payette High School in 1929. He then attended the University of Idaho where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Ken married Eleanor Henry on November 25, 1937. After Eleanor’s death, he married Pauli Degler on October 2, 1983.
Ken was a partner in his family’s honey business, “R.D. Bradshaw and Sons Honey Producers known throughout the honey industry and proudly served as president of the National Honey Packers and Dealers Association as well as president of the Honey Industry Council of America. In 1964 Ken and his son Gary owned and operated their Tuttle Ranch until 1975. After selling the ranch, Ken enthusiastically pursued a political career and was a distinguished member of the Idaho State Senate for 3 terms from 1977-1982.
Ken is survived by his wife Pauli Bradshaw of Gooding; son Gary (Carol) Bradshaw of Fairfield, Idaho; brother D.B. Buzz Bradshaw (Myrle) of Indian Wells, California; nephews Douglas J. (Nancy) Bradshaw of Nevada and Ben Bradshaw of Indian Wells, California; Jim Hansel, and Bill (Ingrid) Hansel of the East Coast; step-daughter Teri Kobielski (Kaz) and their daughter Kasia of Toronto, Canada; Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren Rex (Cyndi) Bradshaw and their daughter Riley of Fairfield, Idaho; Carrie (John) Arkoosh and their sons Jake, Joe, and Ben of Gooding; Monica (Mark) Eriksen and their children Hallie, Ethan, and Brody of Eagle, Idaho; and numerous great nephews and nieces. Ken was preceded in death by his parents R.D. and Grace Bradshaw, first wife Eleanor Henry Bradshaw, and his sister Edith Hansel.
Kenny was not only a successful businessman and mentor; he was also a fun-loving grandpa whom his grandchildren adored. They have many fond memories of him teaching them how to drive a car and skiing the slopes of Baldy Mountain. Rex, Carrie, and Monica were his most faithful campaign supporters as they hung elections signs and attended multiple parades throughout the magic valley during Ken’s run for the Senate. His great-grandchildren will greatly miss the excitement of escorting their grandpa and Pauli to their annual outing to the Shrine’s Circus.
