Wasilla resident Kenneth “Kenny G” Lynn Griffeth, 52, died on April 29, 2021, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska.
Kenny was born on Sept. 18, 1968, in San Angelo, Texas, and moved to Alaska in 1969. He grew up in Rabbit Creek and moved to the Mat-Su Valley in 1981, where he had five children.
He had a passion for truck driving for the past 17 years while working for Midnight Sun Distributors, Carlile Transportation and most recently Crowley Maritime. He spent many hours traveling to Alaska communities making lasting friendships and touching others with his contagious smile. Kenny enjoyed Alaska’s beautiful sunrises and sunsets on long trips delivering fuel.
Kenny’s entrepreneurial spirit and creativity led him to vending his colorful tye-dye at the Alaska State Fair, the Girdwood Forest Fair and many other Alaska music festivals for over 20 years.
His craze for all things Hot Wheels started at a young age. He was an administrator of the Hot Wheels Addicts of America and developed many wonderful friendships throughout the United States. Most recently he spent weekends sharing his excitement for Hot Wheels with his fiancee’s grandchildren.
As an accomplished Alaskan outdoorsman, his children and grandchildren enjoyed hours of four-wheeling, camping and dipnetting. Kenny loved to cook and carried on his mom’s tradition of making and delivering pumpkin rolls and reindeer chow. Pumpkin carving parties were one of his favorite times of the year.
His good Samaritan attitude found him assisting many and creating lasting friendships in countless Alaska communities. His positive silver lining attitude always uplifted others. He overcame many hardships in his life and was always smiling, kind, respectful, funny, telling a joke or pulling a joke. He always said “Right On!” He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
