Kenneth A. (Kenny) Medeiros, Sr, 78, of Bristol, RI, passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the loving and devoted husband of Elizabeth (Serpa) Medeiros. Liz was the love of his very full life. Together they lived out a storied romance and built a rock-solid marriage that spanned decades. They danced in their kitchen when they listened to the Duprees; held hands when they walked; laughed out loud together and never let the sun go down without saying they loved each other.
Born in Warren, Kenny was the son of the late Alfred and Rita (Yergeau) Medeiros. He graduated from Warren High School in the Class of 1960. He was the owner of Kenny’s Auto Body in Warren for 46 years before retiring. Prior to opening his business, Kenny proudly served as a U.S. Marine and briefly as a Warren Police Officer. He was an amazing, ever-reliable, deeply committed father to his children and grandchildren and loved them beyond all measure. Outside of his family, for which his passion burned so brightly, there was only one other thing he needed: baseball. Not only did Kenny bleed blue-and-white pinstripes for his beloved New York Yankees, but his own baseball journey became the stuff of local legend. He started out in the Warren Little League, played throughout high school and later tried out for the Yankees himself. Kenny played softball for more than 50 years. He was a member of several teams that went on to win national championships including: Taylor Bros, Old Iron Sides and Clarke & Sons. For his contributions to local sports, Kenny was inducted into both the Fall River and Warren Athletic Halls of Fame. He also coached numerous local youth sports and mentored hundreds of kids in the process always emphasizing the importance of grace and sportsmanship. He held a particularly special place in his heart for the Mt. Hope High School and Roger Williams University wrestling teams, and Warren Little League.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his sons: Kenneth Jr. and his wife Christine of Warren; Scott Medeiros of Bristol; Keith Medeiros and his wife Sarah of Bristol; and his grandchildren: Madison Medeiros, Logan Medeiros and Karsyn Medeiros. Kenny is also survived by his brother Richard Medeiros and his wife Belle of Warren; his sisters: Jo Ann Ward of Warren; and Laurie Medeiros and her fiancé Don Atkinson of Lancaster, MA. He was the brother of the late Alfred Medeiros, Jr formerly of Rehoboth, MA. Kenny also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
