Kenneth Joseph Luigs, 95
Lakeland – Kenneth Joseph Luigs, 95, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014, as a result of natural causes.
Mr. Luigs was born September 5, 1918 in Evansville, IN. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army where he served in World War II. Mr. Luigs was a platoon sergeant during the Battle of the Bulge and was wounded during the battle of Remagen Bridge.
He was a decorated veteran and a longtime member of the VFW and DAV. He retired from the engineering department of the City of Evansville, IN and moved to Lakeland with his late wife, Helen in 1986.
Mr. Luigs was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Luigs; parents, Joseph and Olivia Luigs; and sisters, Olivia Luigs and Evelyn Hufnagel. He is survived by his only son, Joseph Luigs and his wife, Marcia, of Carmel, IN; granddaughters, Amy Luigs of Carmel, IN and Lisa Morrissett of Kohler, WI; great granddaughter, Jayne Morrissett of Kohler, WI; and nephew, Ronald Hufnagel of Evansville, IN.
