Kenneth John Shirley, 60, of Galien, Michigan, died Friday morning, February 22, 2008 at his home.Ken was born on Christmas Eve in 1947 to Lawrence and Roberta (Cutler) Shirley in Michigan City, Indiana. He graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1966.
He continued his education at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac where he studied Drafting and earned his Associates Degree. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Ken was an Engineer Checker and had worked for NASA, and, most recently in the medical field at Boston Scientific in California. After his retirement he moved back to Michigan and built his home in Galien. Ken was a sports fan, enjoying basketball, football and especially watching the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his daughters, Kristy (Yuri) Vanzine of Valparaiso, Indiana and Kandace Shirley (Tim VanTilburg) of Three Oaks; grandsons, Jack Vanzine, Parker Vanzine, and Jonah VanTilburg; his mother, Roberta Shirley of New Carlisle, Indiana; brother, Larry Shirley of Sunnyvale, California and his companion, Joann Ramos of Galien, Michigan.
