Kenneth J. Jenkins, age 84 of Littlestown, PA died Monday August 22, 2011. He was born August 7, 1927 near Winfield, Carroll County the son of the late Iva E. Wimert. He was husband of Margaret H. Caples Jenkins.
At age 16 he joined the U.S. Merchant Marine and sailed in the War Emergency Tankers program during World War II from 1944 to 1946. In 1946 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and retired from the navy in 1968 after 22 years of active duty. He was an Air Crewman for 17 years of his navy Career. He served two combat tours (1952-1953) in Korea flying in night attack planes off Aircraft Carriers.
After retiring from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, he worked in the communications field. He retired from Motorola Communications as a Product Consultant in 1989. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign, Post 6954 in Littlestown, PA, American Legion Post 31 in Westminster, MD, The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1381 in Westminster, The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 2226, Littlestown, PA, The Fleet Reserve Association Branch No. 142of Frederick, MD, The Retired Enlisted Association, The Squadrons 33 Association and Guantanamo Bay Association.
He enjoyed flying as a private pilot, riding his motorcycle and being a local DJ for many years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Teresa Tischa of Westminster; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Kim Jenkins and Steve and Monica Jenkins all of Taneytown; daughter and son-in-law, Kendra and Roger Hans of Westminster;
grandchildren, Andy Jenkins and companion Kenya Warfield, Ashley Jenkins, Tara Morton and husband, Anthony, Erin Jenkins, Mandi Jenkins and Abby Jenkins; great grandchildren, Amir and Kiara.
