Kenneth John French, a resident of New Hampshire and Florida, who formerly owned and operated K. French Trucking in N. Hampton, NH, died of cancer December 15, at his Florida home, with his son Chris and his longtime companion Barbara Byrne at his side.
Mr. French was born May 4, 1936 in Peabody, MA, the son of Edward and Gladys (Sheppard) French. After attending Peabody schools, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1960, working as a fire and rescue crew chief. Following his return to civilian life, he worked in the construction business and operated heavy equipment in New Hampshire until his recent retirement.
His marriage to Betty Ann Marie (Stevens) French ended in divorce in 1991.
Mr. French was a member of the St. James Lodge of F & AM in Hampton, Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, and Bektash Shrine.
Survivors include his son, Christopher J. French, daughter-in-law Katherine French, a granddaughter, Nora Lyden French, all of Alexandria, VA, his devoted companion Barbara Byrne, and a sister, Joan Welenc.
