Kenneth Howard Greening was born in Cambridge, NE on June 3, 1927 to William Orra Greening and Ethel Mae Cotton. He was the oldest of 4 children. Kenneth went to school in Cambridge. During High School, he worked at the Ritz Movie Theater and various other jobs for his mentor, Walt Luther. He joined the Navy after graduation. Kenneth was an electrician in the Navy and served on the destroyer USS Terry as part of the Pacific Fleet. They were the first United States war ship to enter Tokyo Bay when Japan surrendered. When he returned home, he met Harriet Teter who was his younger sister’s teacher. It was love at first sight. They were married June 1, 1947 and thus began a 70 year marriage. Kenneth and Harriet had seven children: Paul (Vicky), Howard, Connie Patton, Kaye Doane, Ronald (Pamela), Marianne LaRocca (Steve), and Randy (Karen). Together, they have 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Kenneth retired as a teamster after several years as an over the road truck driver. He also worked as a master mechanic while providing for his family. Kenneth was preceded in death by his daughter Kaye, daughter-in-law Sandy, his parents and siblings.
