Kenneth O’Neil Hawkins, 82, passed away on July 18, 2020. He was the husband of Margaret F. Hawkins. They shared 35 years of marriage together. He was born in Birmingham, AL and was the son of Florence and John Hawkins. In 1955, at the age of 17, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years. During his service he was stationed in California.
Kenneth O’Neil Hawkins was lovingly referred to as “K.O”. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. However, his greatest joy of all was being with his family. K.O. will forever be remembered as a loving and generous father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hawkins and sisters: Marie Whittle, Beverly Nicholson, Lucille Hafley, and Kim Nesbitt; children: Kenny Hawkins (Linda), Robyn Hood (Larry), and Jay Waites (Melissa), and son-in-law Larry Rodgers; grandchildren: Mary Lee Shipley (Aaron), Amanda Campbell (Brandon), Neal Rodgers (Joanne), Austin Hood, Luke Hood, Rachel Hood, Kenny Hawkins III, and Kendall Hawkins; great-grandchildren: Avery Shipley, Ryan Shipley, Ella Kate Campbell, and Gunner Shipley.
Kenneth O’Neil Hawkins is preceded in death by late wife Carol Lee Hawkins and daughter Wendy Lee Rodgers; siblings: John Marion, Floyd Newman, Alan Durwood, William Tolbert, and Tommy Kay.
