Kenneth H. Compton, age 82 of Midland died at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland on Sunday March 29, 2015. The son of the late Howard and Mae (Renwick) Compton was born in Saginaw County on January 12, 1933. Ken graduated from the Midland High School in 1951 and married the former Clara Keidel on September 22, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Midland.

Ken served with the Army during the Korean War in the Military Police. After his military service he was employed by the Dow Chemical Co. for a short time. He then worked for the Midland City Police Department for twelve years, finishing out his employment in the detective bureau. Ken returned to the Dow Chemical Co. and worked in security until retiring as a Corporate Investigator in 1995. He was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he had served as a Trustee and worked with many dinners and fund raisers. Ken was a true outdoorsman, an avid hunter and sportsman and enjoyed watching the Loon’s and Detroit Tigers. He was an avid reader, along with being a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Ken is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clara Compton; daughters Tyani Cates of Gillette, Wyoming and Kendra (Ed) Heath of Tekonsha, Michigan; grandchildren Lucas Studle, Patrick Studle, Brendan Cates, Drew Heath, Erin Heath; great grandchildren Talen and Cohen Studle; half-sisters Linda Kelsey, Lenore Spratke; and his step father Clayton Miller. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Kay Moffet; step brother LeRoy Dunn and grandson Heath Studle.
