Kenneth “Grump” Barton, 80, of Windsor Heights, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021, at the Clark County Hospital in Osceola, IA.
Grump was born September 19, 1941, in Millerton, IA, son of Ernest and Eva Viola (Adams) Barton. He received his education near Millerton in Wayne County. He worked in the oil fields of Kansas for a time and later became a master mason. He worked for the union until starting his own business Ken Barton Masonry.
In 1964 he married Phyllis Babcock in Lindsborg, KS and they made their home in Windsor Heights for 45 years. Grump continued to live in Windsor Heights following her death on July 30, 2017.
Grump was an avid horse racer and also drove race cars for many years.
Grump is survived by his three children; Alan (Janell) Barton of Des Moines, IA, Theresa (Doug) Summers of Centerville, IA, and Kelli (Brent Ridnour) Barton of Windsor Heights, IA, one sister, Delores Smith of Millerton, IA, and 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
