Kenneth Eugene States, 86, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on September 7, 2012 in Canon City, Colorado. He was born April 4, 1926 in Crowley, CO to Vera (Adams) and Paul L. States, Sr. Mr. States moved from Ordway to work at the Sweeney Feed Mill in Pueblo. On July 7, 1948, Kenneth was united in marriage to Wanda Widick in Holly, CO. Kenneth worked at Ideal Cement in Portland, Colorado for 39 years and 10 months; retiring on June 1st, 987. While employed with Ideal Cement, he also farmed and grew enormous gardens and strawberry beds. He was a hard worker and a very generous man. He shared the fruits of his labor with family, friends, and neighbors. Ken was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wanda; children, Bonnie (Dave) Curtis of Goodyear, AZ, Darlene (Rick) McDermott, Jeanne (Harvey) Hammel, Leroy States, Gary (Tammy) States, and Michael (Jenny) States all of Penrose, CO; grandchildren, Kirk McDermott, Wendy Williams, Bob Hammel, Jason Curtis, Kristi Roberts, Philip Curtis, Amanda Valdez, Audrey States, Jeffrey States, Matthew States, Kellie States, Selena States, and Devin States; and great grandchildren, Bryce Williams, Madisyn Williams, Cara Roberts, Neil Roberts, Jr., and Aaliyah Valdez. He is also survived by sisters, Mabel Vaughn, Carol Sharp, and Crystil Cheesman; brothers, Paul States, Jr. and Dale States; sister-in-law, Viola Martin; brother-in-law, Wesley Widick; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Joann Christine; sister, Dora Barnes; brother, Richard W. States; grandson, Paul Hammel; and step-mother, Esther States.
