Kenneth E. Cummins, devoted son, grandson, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away April 19, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center. He was born to Frances M. Cummins on July 12, 1931 in Flint, MI. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents Arthur and Blanche (Preston) Cummins in Bay City, MI.
He married his loving wife Arlene May (Mitchell) Cummins on Crane Court in Midland, MI, June 2, 1951 and she stood by his side for 65 years. He was inducted into the United States Army in February of 1952, while he was serving in the Korean War he was injured in October of 1952. He earned the Purple Heart for his injuries that he sustained.
He enjoyed cutting wood, delivering Meals On Wheels (for 17 years after his retirement), being the Commander of the Disabled American Veterans (for one year) and the Secretary Treasurer (for 13 years), fishing, and hunting. He was most proud of his twelve-point buck he shot in Harrison, MI in 1962. Sometimes he was gone longer than we thought he should be and we would have to go out searching for him. Never fear we would find him somewhere along the trails of his life making new friends. He loved his precious little dogs (Buddy and Maggie) which loved sitting with him in his recliner taking a snooze, which became more often as he got older.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His children, Sandra Cummins of Sanford, MI, Mark (Nina) Cummins of Allen, TX, and Kirk (Toni) Cummins of Arlington, TX. His grandchildren, Jonathan (Zunita) Cummins, Lisa (Brad) LeMoine, Rabecca Griffith, Christina (James) Fowler and Kristyn Schultz. His great grandchildren, Natalee and Naomi Cummins, Allison and Zachary Griffith, Brooklyn and Wyatt Schultz. His brother Raymond Cummins of Kingman, AZ. A host of nieces and nephews, along with all of the many many friends he made over this lifetime. Too numerous to name, each of you know whom you are.
Ken was preceded in death by his loving wife Arlene now to be “Together Forever”, his grandparents, mother, sisters Shirley Harlow and Norma Slaughter and his brother Tom “Butch” Kreger, along with his very loving grandson Colin B. Schultz and grandson – in – law Joseph Griffith.
