Kenneth Lee Dykstra, son of Paul and Gertrude Blommers Dykstra, was born August 19, 1946 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He passed away at his home on Thursday afternoon, January 3, 2008 at the age of sixty-one.
Ken attended Pella Community High School, Des Moines Area Community College, and Triton in Chicago. In November of 1965 he entered the United States Air Force, serving in Japan, Phillipines, and Thailand. His home base was the Travis Air Force Base in California.
Ken married Jeri Kuiper and to this union two children were born: Ryan Lee and Daniel Shawn.
He was employed with Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella for fifteen years, retiring in October 2007. Ken’s favorite hobbies were: hunting, fishing, farming, and being outdoors.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Helen; his mother, Gertrude Dykstra; his two sons: Ryan and Daniel Dykstra; two step-sons and their wives: Kevin and DuAnne Ter Louw and Joshua and Angela Ter Louw; one step-daughter and her husband: Kim and Wade Wilkie; six grandchildren: Kylie and Sam Wilkie, Samara, Gina, and Michael Ter Louw, and Rosie Ter Louw; and three sisters: Evelyn Williams, Eileen Van Weelden, and Elaine Vos.
Preceding him in death was his father, Paul Dykstra.
