Kenneth DeWayne Klausen, from Springfield, NE, died peacefully on Saturday October 22, 2022. He was 82 years old.
DeWayne was born in Sioux City, IA on January 30, 1940 to Kenneth and Evelyn (Middleton) Klausen. He graduated from Concord High School in Concord, NE in 1957. He continued his education at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE where he graduated with a B.A. in Education in August of 1962. He earned his M.S. in Education from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1972.
DeWayne married Garna Doescher on August 14th, 1960.
The couple moved to Omaha in August of 1962 where DeWayne continued his teaching career. DeWayne taught for 35 years, 33 of those in the Omaha Public Schools teaching Business Education. He retired from teaching in 1995.
DeWayne loved his family. They spent many summers camping, fishing, and boating. DeWayne also enjoyed hunting with his three sons. He was involved in the boys’ sporting events, including many seasons coaching basketball.
DeWayne and Garna enjoyed traveling in their RV after they retired. In addition to visiting family and friends, they enjoyed extended stays in Texas and Arizona during the winter. They purchased a residence in Arizona in 2016. During their travels they met many people, some of whom became life-long friends.
DeWayne is survived by his wife Garna; three sons, Greg (Fran) Wyoming, MN, Mark (Kay) O’Fallon, MO, and Brian (Jennifer) Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren, Zach, Jordin (Miles), Taylor (Ryan), Austin (Jenni), Alex (Sammie), Seth, and Abigail; four great-grandchildren, Ella, Shay, Nora, and Landon; sister Rita (Harold) Johnson, brother Roger (Linda) Klausen; many nieces and nephews, and an extended church family. DeWayne was preceded in death by his parents.
