Kenneth Charles Anderson

Kenneth C. Anderson of Lafayette passed away at his home on June 27, 2017.
Ken was born Oct. 25, 1930 in Locust Fork, AL to Charles and Chessie Anderson. He and his younger siblings Curtis and Dorothy helped operate the family produce and fruit farm through the Great Depression and World War II. The family sold the farm to pursue opportunities in Florida and Washington, where Ken earned a degree in dairy husbandry from Washington State College. In 1954 Ken enlisted in the U.S. Air Force aviation cadet program and served as a flight engineer and navigator. In 1958 he was honorably discharged and married teacher Ruth J. Moore of Iowa.
Also in 1958, Ken was hired by International Harvester Co. as a farm equiqment sales trainee and assigned to a dearlership in Sidney, NE. In 1962 he moved to the store in Kimball, NE and then became a partner at Keller Truck and Implement Corp. in Lafayette. In 1970, Keller Truck and Implement merged with Mountain Truck and Equipment. Ken retired in 2001.
Ken is survived by his wife, Ruth McCarty Anderson; his daughters Peggy Hofstra (Albert) of Lakewood, CO, Jane Colby (Steve) of Oak Creek, CO, Elizabeth Anderson (Rich) of Encinitas, CA, Sue Russell (Dusty) of Arvada, CO; step-daughters Karen Mika of Superior, CO, Linda Smith of Illinois; and grandchildren Tess and Ben Hofstra; Alex Colby; Chesney, Josh and Aaron Macdonald; Lacey and Travis Russell; Amanda and Melissa Mika; and Rachel, Robin, and Becky Smith
