Kenneth C. “Ken” Arnold, 87, of Flemingsburg, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe.
Born on July 14, 1929 in Lexington, he was the son of the late Russell and Gertrude Miller Arnold.
Ken had been director of Roadside Development with the Department of Transportation for 8 years and was the owner of Ken Arnold Landscaping for many years. Ken was a well-known landscaper who built several golf course and football fields along with many other projects. Ken was a graduate of University of Kentucky with a degree in agronomy; he was very active in college as a member of the UK golf team and was a welterweight boxer. Ken was an avid golfer who loved to fish and travel. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, and the local VFW. He was also a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and also attended Flemingsburg United Methodist Church. Ken and his wife Sally always enjoyed their canasta games with Mary and Ed Varnell
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Mattie “Sis” Alexander and George R. Arnold.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sally Arnold; his sons, Kenneth C. Arnold II and Mark Arnold; his daughters, Juliet “Jill” Sither and Regina (Al) Krause. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryan, Mallory, Amanda, Juliet, Alyona, Valya, James and Jonathan; as well as 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ed and Mary Varnell.
