Kenneth Alan Fisher, age 70, surrounded by his wife and children, entered the glorious presence of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, on December 26, 2021, after medical complications following a heart attack.
Born December 21, 1951, Ken is from Clinton, NC, and has called Eastern North Carolina “home” for 67 years. As a private airplane pilot and radio announcer for WISP, “Sky Ken” married Dawn Hardy in 1974 and settled down in Kinston, NC where they had three daughters, Shannon, Stephanie, and Kimberly. Ken’s greatest joy in life was his wife, children, and grandchildren; he dedicated his life to loving them and leading them in obedience to Christ.
For most of his career, Ken was a technician and business owner in the automated door industry. He and Dawn have been faithful members of Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Durham, NC, where he taught the senior adults Sunday School class. In his retirement years, he has served as the Financial Aid Director at Southeastern Free Will Baptist College in Wendell, NC. Ken shared with his family a love for making music, enjoying the outdoors through camping and yard work, and studying the Bible.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Henry Fisher and Evelyn Shaw Fisher. He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Dawn Hardy Fisher; three daughters, Shannon Crawford (Paul), Stephanie McCreight (Tim), Kimberly Webster (Daniel); twelve grandchildren, Evan, Ryan, Timothy, Eden, Ava, Aaron, Julianna, Hannah, Juliette, Noah, Lilly, Nathan; one sibling, Shirley Robinson.
