MAHIEU, KENNETH AL, JR. of Kalamazoo, Michigan Kenneth Al Mahieu, Jr., age 62, passed away suddenly October 2, 2013 in Elk Rapids, MI. Al was born November 29, 1950 in Kalamazoo, the son of Kenneth A. and Violet A. Miller Mahieu, Sr. After four years in the U.S. Air Force he found his calling to be a fireman.
He retired from the fire department as an equipment operator after 23 years with the City of Kalamazoo; and served 10 years as a volunteer fireman for Northwood. On May 19, 1978, he was united in marriage to Barbara Orr Mahieu who survives. Also surviving are their three daughters, Laura Brad Echtinaw, Lisa Ryan Volkers and Lindsey Keith II Nass; five grandchildren, Ethan, Alayna, Jack, Peighton and Brielle; his mother, Violet Mahieu; his siblings, Marty Jenny Mahieu, Ruth Bill Toornman, Virginia Chip Mongreig, Barbara Ed Ott and Teresa Randol; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth A. Mahieu, Sr. in 2011 and by a brother-in-law, Donnie Randol.
