Kelly Joseph Smith, 61, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021. Kelly was born on January 31, 1960, in Lockport, NY, son of Jackie O. Smith and Mary J. Smith Ruscansky.
Kelly worked for the city of Lilburn. He was the eldest of six children. Kelly loved his family, and his grandchildren were his joy in life. Kelly was an avid sportsman and enjoyed the outdoors, most especially, camping, hunting, and fishing. He was a great cook and loved grilling and making his spaghetti and meatballs for anyone that asked. Kelly had a knack for gardening and enjoyed canning vegetables. He loved sports, followed the Buffalo Bills, and was a huge Atlanta Braves fan.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Laurie Smith, of Sugar Hill; mother, Mary (James) Ruscansky; sons, Michael Smith and Eric (Genesis) Smith; bonus children, Chelsea, Sara, and Chance Smith; siblings, Jacqueline (Chris) Melton, Cheryl (Luis) Camacho, Kathy (Mike) Laurio, David (Leslie) Smith, Jeff (Dawn) Smith; grandchildren, Blake, Evan, Max, Gage, Penelope, Bentley, Lucas, and Briar; grandfather, Lawrence McKay; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kelly was predeceased by his father and grandparents, Frances McKay, Joe, and Genevieve Smith. Kelly is also survived by his best friend and furry companion, Sugar.
