Kelly Jean Wells, 58, passed away on December 24, 2022. Kelly was born on June 4, 1964, to Robert and Shirley Wells in Cheverly, MD. She graduated from Bladensburg High School and went on to have a successful career in retail as a store manager for 39 years. She later earned her Accounting Degree from Chesapeake College.

In 1979 she met her soulmate, Ralph Leonard. He saw her beautiful smile that lit up the room and he knew she would be his wife. They fell in love, started a family, and had four children – Lori, Ralph, Leslie, and Lindsay. Passionate about genealogy, Kelly was always researching and learning as much as she could about her and Ralph’s family. Another passion of Kelly’s was Assateague Island and the wild horses. Growing up she had her own horse. Every summer she would go see the horses on the island. She could drive around for hours watching them. She loved to enjoy fresh seafood with her family. She ate fresh seafood all year long enjoying everything from steamed crabs, shrimp, mussels, clams, oysters, fresh fish (some of the biggest catfish you’ve ever seen), and her Mother’s Day soft crabs that her son always brought her. She was never materialistic; she knew experiences and time with family were the true gifts in life.

Kelly was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Wells and father Robert Wells. She is survived by her husband Ralph Leonard, sister Adell Kalthoff, children Lori Nickerson, Ralph Leonard, Leslie Leonard, Lindsay Plummer (April), and grandkids Alyssa, Ayanna, Payton, Trey, Vinny, Amaya, and Dempsey. At Kelly’s request there will be no service.
