Kelly Jean Farrell, 43, of Pendleton, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2021, at IU Health Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born March 31, 1977, in Tucson, Arizona at Davis-Monthan Airforce base, she resided in Indiana most of her life. Kelly’s life-long passion was music. As a little girl, she sang along to Mariah Carey in front of the mirror, mimicking the style of every song. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1996, where she was an active member of the choir with a gifted voice. Later in life, she fondly recalled how one of her music teachers, Mr. Casterline, pushed her to excel. She went on to Vincennes University and studied music. After earning her associate degree from Vincennes, Kelly landed her first job as an entertainer – at Holiday World theme park in Santa Claus, IN, where she sang in production shows. She then found work as a Las Vegas lounge singer, and then after that with Carnival Cruise Lines, island hopping and singing for the guests.

Eventually, Kelly made her way back to Indy and joined the local music scene. She first gave her talents to a band called The Screaming Martinis and then later, with a group of wonderful people and talented musicians who would become her musical family, she established the band Ripple Effect. Together they shared their music and fun all over Indy, performing at local venues, corporate gigs, and weddings. Kelly was engaged to Paul Phenicie, with whom she shared a loving home, a love of music, and two sweet dogs, Lola Bella and Lulu Lemon. Kelly’s legacy is her warm spirit, beautiful voice, and love for entertaining.

Her family, friends, and Indy’s local music scene will dearly miss her. Singing was her life’s work and entertaining crowds through song and dance was her passion. Kelly’s biggest fan was her late mother, Jeanie, who tried never to miss a show and always brought her daughter a special care package. Kelly also cherished memories made with her father, who drove her to auditions and recording sessions all over the Midwest. Kelly is survived and will be dearly missed by her fiancé, Paul Phenicie; father, Jim Farrell; sister, Jodi Roeder; nephew, Peyton Roeder; sister, Brandee Huber; nephew, Joel Huber; and niece, Tearyn Huber.

She is also survived and will be dearly missed by aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as her fiancé’s family. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Norma Jean Farrell (Jeanie).
