Mother Kelley Grace Sutton Loyd daughter of the late Grady Sutton, Sr and Prevella (Newsome) Sutton was born in Wilson, North Carolina on July 21, 1939 and was called home to eternal rest on April 13, 2022.
A resident of Brooklyn, NY Grace, as she was affectionately known, worked for many years with Bergdorf Goodman Department store until she became a mother and focused on raising her children. After moving to Ocala in 1973 she and the late Deacon Clayton Loyd Jr. united with St Hawthorne Primitive Baptist Church where she served as President of the Mother’s Board and President of the Mission. She sang in the Adult Choir; was the Former Superintendent and teacher of Sunday School class#4. A union member of East Florida District #5. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 210, Voters League and Shop-Talk.
Her life was rich with the blessings of God as she grew in her walk with him. She had a grateful heart and a kind spirit and would often say that she was “Blessed, Blessed, Blessed”
Mother Loyd worked over twenty-years with the Marion County School System as a teacher’s assistant and found joy interacting with all the children she came in contact with. Mother Loyd was very artistic; she had a passion for sewing and creating lovely craft items from jewelry to corsages to crocheting. She took great delight and would often take the time to pass on her talents to those who were interested. The joy in her life and the thing she loved most was being a mom and a grandmother to all her grandchildren. Mother Loyd loved helping people and always wanted to make everyone happy. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend she made the world more beautiful. If asked to use one word to describe her it would be kind . She was kind beyond reproach. She strongly believed in the importance of staying connected and keeping close family ties.
Mother Loyd is well loved by many who knew her. Left to celebrate her life are her children Linwood (Lynnette) , Crystal Clark (Ellis), Faith Baker (Gerard), Byron (Carla), Daughter-in-law: Debra Davis; Sister-n-law: Linda Sutton ; Sisters: Olivia Carter, Helen Hines, Margaret King (Billy) , and Annie Sutton. Brothers : Grady Sutton Jr. (Thelma), Jimmie Sutton (Mamie) Willie Gray (Shirleen), Joseph Sutton (Bernice), Elijah (Yvette), and Willie Randolph (Sandra),
Grandchildren – Linwood Loyd Jr (Sophia), Terrence Farmer, Antonio Loyd (Alana), Ebonie Evans, Brandis and D’Ondra Loyd, Diamonte Anderson, Brandon and Briyana Clark, Sherry and Sharon Shepard
A host of Great Grandchildren, God Children, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who will certainly miss her.
