Keith E. Poitras, age 71, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, died peacefully Sunday, February 10, 2019. He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Marilyn (Blanchette) Poitras of Albuquerque; daughter and son-in-law, Angelique and Scott Henderson of Albuquerque; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Paula Poitras of Prescott Valley, AZ; and five grandchildren, Drew Henderson, Dylan Henderson, Grace Poitras, Ava Poitras, and Ella Poitras. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Sharon Coen and her husband, Russ of Sedona, AZ; brothers, Marvin Poitras of Edgewood and Vernon Poitras of Albuquerque; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Marie Poitras; as well as his sister, Joyce Whitman Scherer.
Keith was a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend. A former NHRA drag racer in his early adulthood, he continued to have a passion for all forms of racing, and classic automobiles. Keith was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and UNM Lobo fan and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. He spent numerous years coaching youth soccer in both AYSO, as well as for the Classic Soccer Club in the Duke City Soccer League.
