Kay Wood Penland, age 85 of Huntsville, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister passed away Sunday morning at Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville, AL. Kay worked much of her adult life in doctors’ offices as a medical assistant or a medical insurance clerk. Her outstanding character traits were a servant’s heart and a warm, welcoming, and joyful personality.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen R. Penland; father, Seth Crawford Wood; mother, Grace Rogers Wood; two sisters, June Wood Trantham and Linda Wood McCracken; two brothers, Gerald Wood and Thomas Seth Wood; and son-in-law, Charles Jerry Walker.
She is survived by her two sons, David Reagan Penland and Robert Seth Penland, and wife Angie; two daughters, Glenda Penland Parkman, and husband Mike and Gail Penland Walker; two sisters, Lucille Wood Czarnecki and Birdie Wood Powell, nine precious grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
