Katheryn I. “Kay” Preston, 88, of Jacksonville, IL, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
She was born Nov. 1, 1932, in Waverly, the daughter of Earl and Lillie H. McNeal Farmer. She married Glenn I. Preston on June 7, 1952, in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2013.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda L. Hill of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by seven sisters, Mary Farmer, Oneta Covey, Mildred Griffeth Wood, Patsy Pauline Farmer, Ruby Stewart, Frances Stephenson, and Faye Woods; and five brothers, John A. Farmer, Robert Farmer, Earl E. Farmer, Harold Farmer, and Raymond Farmer.
Mrs. Preston was a 1950 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She was a longtime member of Central Christian Church where she had served as a Youth Group Leader. She had also been a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Early in life, she had worked at Prairie Farms Dairy, W.T. Grant Store, and Kroger Grocery. Along with her husband, she owned Photography by Preston for 40 years. They had also been members of the Central Illinois Mustangs and the Goodtime Cruisers.
