Kay Nielsen, age 80, of Spirit Lake, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Keelson Harbour Assisted Living in Spirit Lake. She was born on March 15, 1934, in Montevideo, Minnesota, to Victor and Helen (Howe) Nielsen.
Kay graduated from Spencer High School in 1952, and Buena Vista University in 1955. She worked as a teacher for many years. Kay lived in Winterset, Des Moines, Spencer and Spirit Lake, over the years. She enjoyed spending her spare time reading.
Kay is survived by her brother, Marc Nielsen, and his wife, Jan of Spirit Lake; niece, Linda Lester; nephews, Brad Nielsen and Drew Nielsen; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; nieces, Kathy Nielsen and Barbara Goodwin.
