Kay Fiser Gillis of Sheridan, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 athome surrounded by her family. She was born November 1,1946 in Little Rock, Arkansasto the late O.E. and Louise Barker Fiser. She was a graduate ofMalvern High School and received her bachelor’s degree from HendersonState University in 1967 and a master’s degree from the University ofArkansas at Little Rock. After graduation from Henderson, she spent 37years teaching business classes at Sheridan High School.
Kay was an active member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church inSheridan and worked for several years in the Awana program. She was amember of Chapter Y P.E.O. International Sisterhood, Grant CountyRetired Teachers Association, Arkansas Retired TeachersAssociation, and was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Kay was predeceased by her parents, O.E. and Louise Fiser and a brother, Ronnie Fiser.She is survived by her husband, Wayne Gillis of the home, son, Bryan andhis wife Kelly, of Redfield, Arkansas, and daughter, Audra Gillis ofthe home. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Riley and HarperGillis. Other survivors are two brothers, Bill and wife Marilyn Fiser ofSheridan and Gary and wife Debbie Fiser of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, brother-in-law Ronnie Gillis and his wife Jane of Sheridan, three aunts,Birta Fiser of Sheridan, Sally Fiser of Fort Smith, and Wanda Gibsonof Little Rock. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and ahost of friends that will cherish her memory.
