Kay passed away March 15, 2022. She was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on June 1, 1947. She moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma when she was a toddler. She graduated from Edison High School in Tulsa, Ok. Upon high school graduation, Kay attended Oklahoma State University where she studied Interior Design and earned a Bachelor’s Degree.
After college, she moved to Lawton, OK where she began her career in interior design. She mostly worked in the furniture industry designing floor displays and assisting customers with their interior needs. Prior to moving to Lawton, OK, she married William “Bill” Riley and together they had their daughter, Julie Kay. Kay moved back to Tulsa for a few years and then Mobile, AL where she had her own interior design business for several years.
Kay moved a few other times before permanently residing in Tallahassee, FL in 1993 where she then married Jimmy Brown on March 18, 2000. Jimmy and Kay enjoyed watching and attending Nascar races, entertainment events, and traveling. They made many trips to Biloxi to take their chances at the slot machines and had fun pretty much wherever they went.
Kay loved decorating and spent her life making homes beautiful, especially her own. She constantly had little craft or decorating projects going and was happiest when she was being creative.
Kay is survived by her husband, Jimmy (James) Brown and one daughter, Julie Espy and husband Ken Espy of Tallahassee, FL; granddaughter Elizabeth Dayle Toth and husband Shane Toth and great-granddaughter, Maeve Toth of St. Augustine, FL; step-daughter Lorraine Brown, grand-daughter, Gabrielle Cullen, and great-granddaughter Mallory Theriault of Lake Tahoe, NV; brother, Don Patterson and family of AZ.
