On November 29, 2022, our beloved Katrina Denece Peoples, made her heavenly transition. Katrina was born to the late Hubert Jr. and Thelma Peoples on February 27, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio. Katrina was the fifth of seven children.

Katrina (fondly known as Tina), accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Second Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Mabins. She later united with Grace Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ivory Jones. Tina served faithfully in her church with the Kitchen Ministry and the Youth Department, always serving others.

She graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland, Ohio, and later attended Bowling Green University. Tina was very active in supporting the John Adams alumni activities and reunions. She was a “Mighty Rebel.”

Katrina’s passion was baking. She was a Master Cake Designer. She prided herself in designing cakes for her family and friends for their birthdays and weddings for whatever theme they desired. And most times, it was her gift to them.

Katrina worked as a Master Baker for Giant Eagle Grocery for over 40 years until her retirement. She was a member of the UFCW Local 880 and Local 19.

Katrina gave generously of herself to her family, her church and the community. She opened her home to many and raised them as if they were her own. Her love knew no bounds. She epitomized the phrase, “It takes a village.” Her heart was golden and her spirit was one of putting others before herself. She was like a second mother to her niece Galiyah Y. Peoples and her cousins.

We will truly miss her ample laughter, her line dancing, her caregiving to family and friends, and last but not least… her delicious baked goods that always brought smiles to our faces. We loved her greatly, but God loved her more and called her soul to rest.

Katrina leaves to cherish her memory: four sisters: Loretta McNeir, Miami, Florida, Marquetta Peoples, Ft. Mitchell, Alabama, Narthetrics Peoples, Raleigh North Carolina and Nykoyo Gwendolyn Peoples, Cleveland, Ohio; two nieces: Peoples and Galiyah Peoples; five nephews: Jerome Williams, Eric Williams, Derrick Williams, Nelijiah Peoples and Nathaniel Peoples; three uncles: James N. Caldwell (Linda), Birmingham, Alabama, Anthony W. Caldwell (Belinda), Birmingham, Alabama, Matthew Peoples, Cleveland, Ohio; two aunts: Eliza Jane Edwards (John), Cleveland, Ohio and a host of grand nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends located throughout the United States.

Katrina was preceded in death by her sister: Evelyn J. Williams; her brother: Jerome Peoples: her niece, Sharondia L. Hooten, and nephew, Derrick Williams Jr., Farewell our dear Katrina, until we meet again.
