Kathleen “Kathy” Mae Johnson was the 5th child of Rueben Cannady Sr., and Inez Ashley, born on April 4, 1947. She grew up with her brothers, Rueben, Jr., Henry, Leonard, and sisters, Mae, Wilma, and Carlene. As a child, Kathy loved spending time outdoors.

Kathy matriculated through the Denver Public School system all the way through Manual High School. After high school she became a Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA). She cared for people for more than 30 years. She also dedicated her time during the Rockies baseball season. She loved interacting with people from all walks of life and she did so with excellence, love and respect.

Kathy was the proud mother of five beautiful sons. She was super supportive of all of them. Their happiness was her first and only priority. She was their “ride or die”. Although she had firm hand, Kathy was honest and loving, she told it like it was. The boys never questioned her word, if she said she would be there, she was there. ALWAYS. One of the fondest shared memories was the summers spent going to Lakeside and Elitch Gardens. She will be missed by all those she touched.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Rueben Cannady, Sr., and Inez Ashley; sons, Milton Johnson and Kevin Johnson; brothers, Rueben Cannady, Jr., Henry Cannady, Leonard Cannady; sisters, Mae Samms, and Wilma Andrews.

Kathleen “Kathy” Mae Johnson departed this life on April 7, 2022. Those left to cherish her beloved memory include her sons, Lonnie Johnson, and Brian Johnson; sister, Carlene Thomas, 20 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; her cousin and best friend, Diane Ashley; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
