Kathy Lee (Kidder) Ballge, 55, of Elkhart, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart after fighting a long battle against cancer.
She was born March 26, 1957, in Elkhart to William and Jeanette (Chaney) Kidder.
She is survived by her former spouse, Duane (Valerie) Ballge; her two sons, Chad (Angela) Ballge of Apopka, Fla., and Christopher (Liliana) Ballge of Goshen; and three grandchildren, Kyra Ballge of Auburn, Wash., and August Smallwood and Logan Ballge of Goshen.
Additional survivors include her mother, Jeanette (Larry) Losee, and father William (Jane) Kidder, both of Elkhart; siblings Debbie (Artie) Meehan, Doug Kidder and Jack (Karen) Kidder; and numerous extended family members.
Kathy enjoyed working at Kroger on Hively Avenue. She loved her coworkers and customers. Many times, she said, “I love my job and all the people and want to go back to sit on the picnic table.” Kathy loved her family and lived her life to the fullest. She collected elephants and was as strong as the elephants she collected. Through her battle with cancer, she met special individuals who encouraged the family along the way. The family would like to thank everyone who helped Kathy during the illness, including the doctors and nurses.
