Kathy Denise Martin, 64, of Hartselle, AL passed from this life peacefully in the care of her loving husband and daughter on January 17, 2018 after years of bravely battling cancer. A native of Memphis, TN, she was born as the second daughter to William C and Juanita (Tanner) Davis on July 23, 1953. She attended Northwest Mississippi Community College receiving her Associate of Art and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Society. She went on to receive a degree in Medical Coding from Wallace State being on the Dean’s List all while taking her first rounds of chemo.
Since January of 1975, Denise was employed by the US Treasury for 33 years retiring in 2006 as a Program Management Analyst where she flourished in her “sanctuary” receiving many promotions and accolades lending to her introduction to Keith Martin. In 2000, she was married to Keith Martin in a chapel in the Smoky Mountains of Townsend, TN accompanied by her daughter and son-in-law. While living in TN, MS, KS and AL, she created loving memories with all she touched. Denise was a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children. Denise previously served as the Secretary of a local non-profit tax exempt charitable organization existing with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children. These endeavors were the fruit of her deep compassion regarding the well being of children. Denise was a member of Fairview Church of God in Falkville, AL where she received love and support. Denise “Traveler” Martin was a member of the Red Stone HOG Chapter which spoke to her lifelong love of riding motorcycles and traveling while experiencing adventures and friendship. “Traveling fulfills me”. She collected spoons during her travels to Thailand, Alaska, Ketchikan, Niagara Falls, Grand Canyon, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Nassau, Cozumel, Belize, Roatan to mention a few. Boating was also a hobby translating to numerous cruises.
Denise is now reunited with her parents, William C and Juanita (Tanner) Davis, brother-in-law, Richard Griffin, and sister-in-law, Linda Drumwright.
Denise is survived by her beloved husband Keith; her daughter, Brandon “Brandi” Robinson, and husband, Michael, of Gardner, KS; and a son, Alex Martin, of Hartselle. She leaves sister, Sharon Simpson, and husband, Woodley, of Independence, MS; sister, Janice Griffin, and fiancé, Carl, of Southaven, MS; sister, Anita Ashley, and her husband, Randall, of Falkville; and brother-in-law, Richard Martin, and his wife, Linda of Tallassee, TN. She also leaves the pride and joy of her life grandchildren, Alyssa and Tristan Robinson. She leaves a step-son, Joseph Martin, of Arlington, TN. She also leaves 11 nieces and nephews, 15 great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends.
Your love and memories will be remembered and quietly kept, no words are needed as we will never forget. You had a final trip to make to the finest heavenly destination. Though we begged for you not to go so soon, we will rejoice when you extend your loving hand to welcome us to our Father’s home.
