Born in Oakland, California to the late Joe and Ruth Rose, Kathy passed away in Oakland on February 21, 2019, at age 75, with daughter and grandson by her side. Kathy joins her late parents, Joe and Ruth Rose, and sister, “Cindy” Cynthia Rose in Heaven.
She is survived by her daughter Angela M. Koory (Billy L. Dupree), her grandson Anthony M. Maiorano (Tyson Phillips), her sister Patricia Rose (Kim Fabian), her niece Heidi Berenbiok-Scott (Doug), niece Vera Jones (Dan) and their daughter Gabby.
Born into a naval family, Kathy moved a lot in her youth, but two of her favorite places that she lived were Hawaii and California. After graduating from Castro Valley High School, Kathy went to and graduated from beauty school. She loved doing hair and making people look and feel great – which she did for 47 years. She loved being a mother to Angela and a grandmother to Anthony and was very involved in both of their lives. She also loved being a sister and an aunty, as well as a dear friend to many. She loved spending time with family and friends, going to festivals, farmer’s markets, shopping, the movies, Apple Hill, and baking. Her favorite hobby was being her in her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, a philanthropic organization she was involved with for 21 years. She helped raised money to improve the lives of others that were less fortunate than she was. This filled her heart with great joy. She will always be deeply missed by all who loved and cherished her.
