Kathryn Wallsten, 91, of Three Oaks went home to be with her Lord, May 12, 2008 surrounded by generations of her loving family.Kathryn was born December 5, 1916 to William and Della (Garland) Covert in Union Pier. On October 27, 1935 she married Richard S. Wallsten in New Buffalo. He preceded her in death November 21, 1993 after 58 years of marriage. Kathryn shared her talents as a hairdresser at Kathy’s Beauty Shop for 50 years and was a member of the Berrien County Hairdressers Association.

She enjoyed collecting dolls and clothes for them. She loved watching her family grow into five generations and being able to spend time with them all.Survivors include her daughters, Merlyn (James) Wisner and Cathlyn Zeiger, both of Three Oaks; sons, Richard L. (Yvonne) Wallsten of Stevensville and Donald C. (Patricia) Wallsten of Buchanan; grandchildren, Joanie, Sandie, Bobbie, Faith, Richard Jr., Richard, Heidi, Jeffery, Christine and Corrine; 28 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Dreitzler of Las Vegas and Blanche Ford of Bullhead, Arizona and many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sons-in-law, Robert J. Flick and Dennis A. Zeiger; granddaughter, Tammy Lee Wallsten; great grandson, Jeffery A. Zeiger II; sisters, Della and Cecil; and brothers, Don, Norman, and Charles.
