Kathryn G. Austwick, 97, of Jacksonville, IL died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville. She was born December 28, 1910, in Hettick, IL; the daughter of Aaron and Clara Stanfield Tate. She married James Irvin Austwick on November 21, 1930, in Alton and he preceded in death in November of 1993.
She is survived by three sons, Gary Austwick (wife, Janice) of Elijay, GA, Jim Austwick (wife, Dawn) of Rotonda West, FL, and Jerry Austwick (wife, Sandy) of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren, Brad Austwick, Blake Austwick, Jennifer LaPorte, Julie Lastrape, Jill Austwick-Walter, Andy Austwick and Amy Austwick; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, Melvin, and Roy Tate, and three sisters, Bessie Stults, Dot, and Clella Mae Tate.
Mrs. Austwick was a graduate of Hettick High School and was employed by the Alton School District for 19 years as manager of the Horace Mann Elementary School cafeteria until her retirement in 1973. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, reading, baking, and traveling with her husband.
