Kathryn C. Howard, 87, of Manchester, wonderful mother and beloved wife of almost 65 years to George W. Howard, died peacefully on Monday March 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Kathryn was born on February 16, 1929 in Perth Amboy, NJ daughter of the late Francis and Laurence Charant. Kathryn was raised in New York City where she met and married George. She was employed as an executive secretary at the Equitable Insurance Company. Shortly after the birth of their two eldest daughters they moved to Hazardville, CT and raised their seven children. The Howard home was always filled with their children’s friends, many of to whom Kathryn became a surrogate mom. There was always room for one more at the Howard family dinner table. Kathy made every holiday festive and all birthdays special for her family. She selflessly spent hours in the kitchen baking and preparing gourmet dinners. Kathryn will be remembered for her kind heart, generous soul, and mischievous sense of humor. She was extremely talented and creative and known for her superior knitting, crocheting and sewing skills. Most of all she will be remembered by her family for her unwavering love and support. She was the mother all strive to be. Kathryn and George shared a love we all aspire to find. Kathryn is survived by her children; Barbara Howard of Manchester, CT; Brenda Souliere and her husband Edward of Agawam, MA; Lisa Liptak-Kontnick and her husband Jeffrey Kontnick of North Haven, CT; Michael Howard of West Springfield, MA; and Patrick Howard and his fiancé Erin Wilson of Middlefield, CT; six loving grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a daughter; Susan Cyphers and a son; Christopher Howard.
