Kathryn Abernathy Stapleton, 82, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Surviving are her children, Jane Abernathy Ovenden of Seabrook Island, SC and David Abernathy of Asheville, NC, and her four grandchildren, James Ovenden, Jr., William Ovenden, Colin Abernathy, and Campbell Abernathy.
Born May 4, 1934, in Hiddenite, NC, she was the daughter of Janie Madge Millsaps and Yates Millsaps. She married A. Ray Abernathy in 1955 and lived much of her adult life in Clemson, SC. Widowed in 1997; she married William Don Stapleton of Charlotte in 2000.
