     Kathleen W. “Kate” Weaver, 91, of Williamsport, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at RiverWoods Senior Living Community, Lewisburg.

     Born June 16, 1927, in Buttonwood (Jackson Township), she was a daughter of the late Delvin B. and Mary E. (Long) Weaver.

     Kate began her education in a one room school house in Buttonwood and later graduated from Liberty High School in 1945. Kate and former teacher, Genevieve Patterson, enjoyed arranging the Buttonwood school reunion picnics. After graduation and moving to Williamsport she worked at Sylvania Sunset Park Plant in Old Lycoming Township. When Litton Industries bought Sylvania, she, along with several other employees were sent to Massachusetts to learn new jobs. Her time was spent in “The Clean Room,” at Litton’s. After leaving Litton’s employment, she ran a couple small businesses in the Newberry area. Kate’s last job was selling cleaning products and vitamins. She also ran a rural Sun-Gazette paper route for several years.

     Kate was a member of the former Newberry United Methodist Church for many years. While a member there, she was a Sunday school teacher, president of the United Methodist Women’s group and later took training to be a lay leader. She also helped to organize and run the Strawberry Festival held “in the square.” After Newberry United Methodist Church closed, Kate became a member of Heshbon Park United Methodist Church.

     Surviving are a brother, Royce A. Weaver, of South Williamsport; a sister, Sandra R. Rauch (Roger), of Milton; and ten nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale M. Weaver Sr., Burns D. Weaver and Cecil Weaver; two sisters, Norma E. Shrawder and Phyllis L. Boyd; three sister-in-laws, Florence, Barbara and Emily Weaver; and two brother-in-laws, Lee Shrawder and George Boyd.
