Kathleen M Carter Left us on July 28, 2016 in her home with her daughters by her side at 4410 Klein Street, Preston, Maryland.
After her courage and determination to fight her battle with liver cancer in 2014, Kathleen’s battle resumed in 2015 when another tumor was discovered which later spread to other parts of her body in 2016. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends (and other supporters) is what carried her until the day God called her home.
Kathleen was born November 22, 1941 in Baltimore, MD, to the late Roland and Catharine Rich. She was the youngest of two beautiful girls; and as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor.
After the separation of her Father and Mother, Kathleen moved to Denton Maryland to live with her late Aunt, Martha Baynard, where she attended Lockerman School until the year of 1957.
Kathleen worked for Caroline Poultry in Denton, Maryland for several years. After leaving Caroline Poultry, she did house work for several homes throughout Caroline County and prior to her retirement, she did domestic work for Christ Episcopal Church in Denton, Maryland and for the Food Instrument Corporation in Federalsburg, Maryland, under the ownership of Mr. Richard Kudlich, Sr.
Kathleen gave her life to Christ in 1996 at Coppin AME Church in Preston, MD, under the leadership of Rev Randolph Fitchett. She served faithfully as an Usher until her hip surgery and often volunteered to serve in other areas as needed.
Kathleen leaves behind, her husband, Carlette (Beaver) Carter, of Preston, MD; two sons, Michael Brown and Terrance Brown of Baltimore MD; three daughters, Min. Gloria Story (Juan) of Charlotte NC, Rozalind Brown of Preston MD, and Carolyn Harris (Kevin) of Preston, MD; her nephew Reginal Brown of Thomastown, MD; one God-daughter, Shaquana Rich of Denton, MD; two brother-in-law’s, Kenneth Brown (Barbara) of Rougemont, NC; and Stevie Brooks of Unionville, MD; nine sister-in-law’s, Ophelia Brown of Bowie, MD; Delphine Cager (Gerald) of Severna Park, MD; Sharon Brown of Severna Park, MD; Doris Lawrence (Paul) of Easton, MD; Tina Kusi-Appiah (Everson) of Newark, DE; Rennie Nichols (Clarence) of Preston, MD; and Cheryl Brooks of St Michaels, MD; 12 grandchildren and a host of great- grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
