Passed away Wednesday evening, July 22, 2020. Kathleen was born April 15, 1945 in Detroit, MI the daughter of William and Mary Knoll.
Kathy attended Pellston High School and graduated in 1963, looking forward to a future as a secretary. She landed her first job working for Proctor and Gamble, producing Pampers diapers. Once moving on from her starting position, Kathy worked for Control Engineering Company as an office manager, later going on to purchase her own well-established secretarial business in Harbor Springs, MI.
Once her son graduated college and moved to Southwest MI, Kathy worked as the head of accounting at his retail company, Softball Fans, until she retired in 2014. Kathy will be remembered as a hard worker in both her personal and public life. Raising her son, Bryan, brought Kathy so much joy as they have countless memories surrounding Bryan’s childhood and through his transition into professional life. She was known as a family-woman, making all those who knew her feel comfortable and loved.
Most of Kathy’s favorite activities revolved around her family and the outdoors. She occupied much of her time doing gardening and yardwork with her daughter-in-law, Karen, and spent many summer days at the beach. Kathy always enjoyed relaxing beach vacations in Marco Island, FL with her family, where she would spend hours paddle boarding, soaking up the sun, and hunting for seashells. Kathy took up a full-time role in her grandchildren’s athletics, always being present at soccer and softball games, as well as track meets and extracurricular at Hackett Catholic Prep where she was referred to as “Grammy” by all. She enjoyed supporting her grandchildren’s college teams as well, attending University of Michigan and Michigan State games in recent years. Along with the interests of her family, Kathy was always delighted to attend professional Manchester United Soccer games. Kathy is a beloved mother and grandmother whose lively spirit and fun-loving nature has touched many, and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
Kathy is survived by her son, Bryan (Karen) Knoll; 2 grandchildren, Sarah and Will Knoll; and a brother, Michael (Debbie) Knoll.
