Kathleen Kirkpatrick of Yonkers passed away on January 13 after a short hospitalization. Kathy was a strong and determined woman. Although it did not cause her death, she fought and held off multiple myeloma for over 12 years.

Kathy was born in Elmira, NY on 12/21/47. Her parents, Thomas and Alice Kirkpatrick, instilled a strong work ethic, strong feelings of caring and empathy, a commitment to social justice, and a love of nature. Kathy received her nursing degree from Corning Community College.

For over 42 years, Kathy worked as a registered nurse at White Plains Hospital, most prominently in the cardiac care unit. The high regard in which she was held by patients, coworkers and physicians and fellow nurses is a testament to her knowledge, nursing skills, dedication and compassion. Outside of work, she enjoyed reading, sewing and being outdoors. She truly loved Christmas.

Kathy is survived by brother, Daniel Kirkpatrick (Debby) of Wadsworth, OH, her sister’s life partner, Wendy Yost, of Syracuse, two nieces, several cousins and many loving friends in the Westchester County area. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara Kirkpatrick. Donations can be made in memory of Kathy to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, the American Heart Association or Save the Children.
