Kathleen K. Johnson, age 68, of Salem, died at 2 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boardman with her family by her side. She was born November 7, 1944 in Salem, the daughter of the late William and Louise (House) Messenger. She was a 1961 graduate of Salem High School and before her retirement in 2006 had been a press operator and assembler at Ventura Plastics for 37 years. She was a member of the Salem First Friends Church and enjoyed bowling, card club, crocheting blankets and taking care of her grandchildren. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Her husband, J.J. Johnson, whom she married September 5, 1962, survives her along with a son, James William Johnson of Mooresville, North Carolina; two daughters, Tammy (Bret) Schrode of Washingtonville and Kimberly Johnson of Salem; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her parents; two sisters; and a brother preceded her in death.
