Kathleen Elizabeth Quigley was born on April 19, 1920 in Aberdeen Scotland, daughter to Richard and Mary Quigley. Kathleen had two Sisters, Alice Melvina Williams and Mary Daisy Quigley. They grew up in Sherman Oaks, Pennsylvania, on the Ohio River. Kathleen graduated Saint Veronica High School in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, in 1939, and Saint Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1942.

Kathleen later received extensive medical training in the Army. The Army Commissioned her as a First Lieutenant, Army Nurse Branch and her nursing career took her all over the world, serving in wars and conflicts until her retirement in 1971. She received numerous awards and citations during her military service including the Bronze Star, several Army Commendation Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals.

In Vietnam, she served as a Flight Surgical Nurse, and upon her return to the United States, she was the Head Nurse in the Army’s Burn Unit, Book Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Upon retirement, she moved with her sister Daisy to Butler, PA, where they were active in Saint Paul’s Catholic Church. Upon Daisy’s death in 2012, she moved to be with her niece Alice Kirby in Sharpsburg, GA. She died on January 24, 2015.
