CHARLOTTE – Kathleen Elizabeth “Kay” Miller Erickson went to be with her Heavenly Father on November 27, 2014.

Kathleen was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 18, 1939 to Dr. C. Dudley and Helen Stock Miller. She was raised in various places in the United States and graduated from Curtis High School in Staten Island, New York, NY. Kathleen attended the University of Nebraska and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in education. She was a teacher of children, teens and adults. Helping others to see the world around them and expressing it creatively was a true joy. She learned sign language through her church’s deaf ministry and shared the joy of salvation through worship, community service and teaching deaf children in their schools. Her family and home reflected her creative gift as well.

Before graduating from college, she met and married her husband, Kermit, on August 20, 1960. They finished their senior year and moved on to Omaha and other places Kermit’s job took them.

Kathleen loved the Lord Jesus Christ having accepted Him as her Savior in 1957. She found joy in serving her Lord in and through her church and community. She loved teaching, singing in the choir, leading Bible study and prayer groups, serving meals and sharing her faith in many ways.

Kathleen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kermit; her daughter, Donna Schulte; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Devon Bartscher; grandchildren, Kevin and Erica Schulte and Jared, Jacob and Josie Bartscher. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in law, The Rev. Dr. Charles D. and Lori Miller and son, Scott and Elizabeth (Beth) Miller and their sons, Landen and Jonah; son, Dr. Christopher and Heather Miller and children, Peyton, Hadley and Bella; aunt and uncle, Donna and Richard Jacob; sister-in-law, Patricia Butt and her children, daughter, Melodee Rongstad and sons, Jarrett and Kyle; and son, Mark Erickson and daughter, Reve. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son, Brian David, son-in-law Robert Schulte, and brother-in-law Merlin Butt.
