Kathleen Emerita Neave, 79, of Galesburg, died at 8:30 AM. Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Courtyard Estates, Knoxville. Kathy was born March 28, 1941, in Monmouth, the daughter of Richard Elbert and Mary Cecilia (Costello) Sults.
Kathy graduated from Monmouth High School in 1959 and later married Lawrence Edward Neave on July 29, 1961, at the First Christian Church in Galesburg. Their marriage brought one son, Michael (the late Lise) Neave of Fairfield Bay, AR, and one daughter, Melinda (Jeff) Van Meter of Galesburg.
Larry preceded Kathy in death on February 24, 2020.
Along with her children, Kathy is survived by five grandchildren, Christian (Jennifer) Neave, Elise (Corey) Edwards, James (Amy) Voyles, Stephanie (Bryce) Bent; and Katie (Ashley) David-Van Meter; and nine great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband, daughter in law, and parents, Kathy was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Sults. After spending many years staying home raising the children, Kathy attended and graduated from Carl Sandburg School of Nursing. She went on to a career in nursing working at a nursing home in Monmouth for a time, then went to work for Dr. Strauch in Galesburg until she retired with her husband in 1997. Kathy and Larry were long-time active members of the Western Illinois Auto Club and enjoyed showing their 1957 Oldsmobile. Kathy could be best described as a caring lady with a big heart who never met a stranger. She was also quite the “computer nerd.” She enjoyed spending time on the computer and could fix any software problem.
