Kathleen “Kathy” Claypool, nee Mitchell, age 63 of Collinsville, IL, passed away August 5, 2021 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.
Kathy was born on November 4, 1957 in Belleville, IL. She absolutely loved nature and found pleasure in flower gardening, time on or near water and just spending time outdoors. Some of her favorite things to do were reconnecting with her old friends, along with socializing and dancing. She also enjoyed playing bingo and learning new crafts. Kathy was always ready and willing to try new things. She was a firm believer in helping the homeless, was very compassionate and considered anyone she met to be family.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Londie and Naomi (nee, Woodford) Mitchell; and one brother, Ricky Mitchell.
Kathy is survived by her children, Valerie (James) Walls of Collinsville, IL, Sarah Mitchell of Leavittsburg, OH, and her honorary daughter, Nancy Owen of Collinsville, IL; three sisters, Nancy (Lennie) Eiskant of Shiloh, IL, Carol (David) Darnell of Cape Coral, FL and Patricia Scholes of Pocahontas, IL; two brothers, Mick Mitchell of Old Ripley, IL and Tom Mitchell of Old Ripley, IL; one grandchild, Aidan Walls of Collinsville, IL along with her closest friends, Bonnie Frankie and Karen Singleton, many close cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kathy will be sorely missed by all who knew and love her.
