Kathleen A. Ganey passed away peacefully in her home on July 28, 2021. Kathleen was a Human Resources Professional, a gardener at home and for her church, and an advocate for joyful giving to those who needed a helping hand. She was especially proud of her heritage being the granddaughter of immigrants from Ireland.
Born in Taylorville, IL in 1958, Kathleen was the sweetest and sixth of seven children of Michael and Patricia Kennedy Ganey. She graduated from the University of Illinois and earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from John B Stetson University. Following her graduation from the University of Illinois she traveled throughout the United States and Canada as a consultant for her fraternity for women Kappa Alpha Theta.
She served Oglethorpe University as a counselor and student affairs administrator before embarking on a successful 35 year career in Human Resources. She was a Human Resources manager\director for Kohler Company, United Launch Alliance and SnapOn Tools. She later became the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for SnapOn.
Kathleen served as a professional resource for her community by teaching HR certification exam preparatory classes, providing instructional input to local trade schools, coaching at job fairs, volunteering for the St. Joseph the worker job networking club housed at Saint John’s Church, serving as a past officer in the North Alabama Society for Human Resources and recently as a member of the Board of Directors for Alabama Works the North Alabama Regional Workforce Council.
Kathleen is survived by her partner of 36 years Judy Teague of Huntsville, AL. She also leaves behind brother Tim Ganey and wife Tish of Tampa, FL; brother Bill Ganey and wife Barbara of Lagrange, IL; Sister Michelle Maurer and husband Tim of Bloomington, IL; brother Denny Ganey of Gautier, MS; sister Barbara Schaad and husband Larry Kupfershmid of Bloomington, IL; sister Mary Ann Creech and husband Ed of Moultrie, GA; aunt Mary Alice Kennedy Schafer and others she loved deeply including cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, her Huntsville family the Teagues and her parish family. She was preceded in death by her parents.
